Listen and repeat the Quran, verse by verse
Each verse is recited in Arabic by Mishari Rashid Alafasy. In Arabic + Urdu mode, the spoken Urdu translation by Shamshad Ali Khan follows straight after the Arabic, so you hear a verse and its meaning together, then the next verse begins.
How to turn it on
- Open any surah.
- In the player at the bottom of the screen, choose + Urdu (it reads Arabic + Urdu on wider screens).
- Press play.
What stays in step with the text
While a verse plays it is highlighted and kept in view, and the page moves on as the recitation moves to the next verse. During the Arabic recitation, the word being recited is highlighted as you hear it. The spoken Urdu has no word-by-word highlight: the verse stays highlighted while it plays. Ayatfree remembers your Arabic + Urdu choice in this browser for next time.
Repeat and control
- Repeat plays the verse again; in Arabic + Urdu mode that is the Arabic, then the Urdu, again.
- Speed: 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x or 1.5x.
- Previous and next verse, and a bar to move within the clip.
- Auto-read, above the verses, plays the surah continuously from the verse you are on.
Good to know
The audio is streamed, so playback needs an internet connection. To memorize what you hear, see memorization with Recall and Focus.
