Word-by-word Quran
Word-by-word mode puts a short study line under every Arabic word. Use it to see what each word means and to hear it said on its own.
What you see
Under each Arabic word is its transliteration (the word written in Latin letters) and its meaning, in Urdu or in English, whichever you have chosen at the top of the reader.
How to use it
- Open a surah and press Word-by-word above the verses.
- Tap any word. A card opens with the Arabic word, its transliteration, and its Urdu and English meanings.
- Press Pronounce to hear that word once.
- Press Repeat to hear it as many times as you set (1 to 10). Ayatfree then moves to the next word and keeps going until you pause it.
Good to know
The meanings load a moment after the page opens. In this mode the play button on a verse plays one word, not the whole verse; turn Word-by-word off to hear the full recitation.
The word data and the word audio come from Quran.Foundation. For a full verse, see listen and repeat.
